Rasika Sittamparam - Associate at Michael Macfarlane Associates

Rasika Sittamparam is a writer, researcher and communications specialist focused on the worlds of ultra high net worth individuals, family offices and private capital. Based in Kuala Lumpur, she works with Michael Macfarlane Associates to help map and interpret the changing global wealth landscape, with a growing emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region and the networks, advisers and family enterprises shaping the region’s next generation of influence.

Her work combines long-form editorial writing, in-depth research, multimedia production and relationship-led intelligence gathering. Drawing on more than a decade within the international private client sphere, Rasika brings a nuanced understanding of the reputational, commercial and cultural dynamics surrounding global wealth and the individuals who operate within it.

Prior to joining Michael Macfarlane Associates, Rasika spent almost a decade at Spear’s, the international wealth management and private client media brand known for its coverage of ultra high net worth individuals, family offices and trusted advisers worldwide. During her time there she became one of the publication’s most experienced journalists and rankings researchers, specialising in the personalities, businesses and advisory ecosystems that underpin the global UHNW sector.

She interviewed leading entrepreneurs, wealth holders, family office executives and senior advisers across the UK, Europe and Asia, covering subjects ranging from succession and governance to reputation, philanthropy, luxury and private investment. She also developed particular expertise interviewing prominent philanthropists, cultural figures and internationally recognised individuals operating at the intersection of wealth, influence and public life. Her reporting often focused not simply on wealth itself, but on the people, relationships and long-term thinking behind it.

Alongside her editorial work, Rasika contributed extensively to the research and intelligence processes behind the Spear’s rankings and indices, which are widely regarded as benchmarks within the global private client industry. The role demanded discretion, diplomacy and a detailed understanding of the structures and personalities shaping the international wealth advisory world.

Over time, her work evolved beyond journalism into broader relationship building within the UHNW space. She developed strong networks across private banks, family offices, law firms, investment advisers and luxury brands, while also helping to organise high-level events and conversations for the private client community. Her ability to connect people across industries and geographies became an increasingly important part of her professional role.

Rasika’s background originally began in the sciences at Imperial College London before moving into journalism and communications. She holds an MA in Science Journalism and trained across print, digital and broadcast media, developing experience in documentary storytelling, multimedia production and broadcast journalism early in her career. That foundation continues to shape her approach today, particularly her ability to distil technically or commercially complex subjects into accessible, engaging narratives for sophisticated audiences.

This analytical background has proven especially valuable in a period where wealth, technology and reputation are becoming increasingly intertwined. Much of Rasika’s work now focuses on how ultra high net worth individuals and family enterprises are navigating a rapidly changing world shaped by artificial intelligence, geopolitical shifts, technological disruption and growing public scrutiny.

At Michael Macfarlane Associates, she contributes across editorial development, research, content production and intelligence gathering, helping to shape written and multimedia content designed for an international UHNW audience. Her work spans long-form features, interview-led programming, thought leadership and private client communications.

Originally from Malaysia, Rasika spent 15 years living and working in the United Kingdom before returning to Kuala Lumpur, where she is now helping to map the evolving private wealth landscape across the Asia-Pacific region. Having travelled extensively across Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and East Africa, she brings an international perspective and cultural fluency to her work with globally mobile families and advisers. From her base in Kuala Lumpur, she is developing an on-the-ground understanding of the family office ecosystem across Southeast Asia while deepening the firm’s proximity to key markets including Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan.

She is particularly interested in the rise of internationally minded next-generation wealth holders across the region and the ways in which identity, mobility, reputation and influence are being redefined within a more interconnected global environment.

Rasika also contributes to the research and production of the YouTube series Wealth Office, which explores the intersection of private wealth, family offices, governance and influence. Through the platform she helps shape conversations around the evolving priorities of globally mobile wealth holders and the questions facing private capital in the age of AI.

Combining editorial depth, international perspective and deep familiarity with the global private client world, Rasika works at the intersection of storytelling, intelligence and relationship-building, helping to decode the individuals, ideas and networks shaping modern wealth and influence.
